AD Matières d’Art, an exhibition that celebrates the professions of decoration supported by the Maurice Amon Foundation

The Foundation regularly seals partnerships with incubators, schools, galleries and institutions to support those with innovative projects.

In this context, it accompanies the exhibition AD Matières d’Arts at the Palais d’Iéna, which celebrates the artists, craftsmen and companies in the world of decoration. It also assists four talents present in this event by accompanying them in the long course in their professional project.

The magazine AD inaugurates a new exhibition dedicated to artists, artisans and creators who sublimate materials (wood, leather, staff, glass, wallpaper, ceramics …). The talents selected by the editorial staff will present on panels the full extent of their dexterity and creativity. Through this major exhibition, the magazine wishes to celebrate the various trades that are little known to the general public and to highlight companies that are too often in the shadows.

Developed on a principle of “material library” giant, the scenography, designed by Vasken Yéghiayan, is part of the artistic installation. It is based on a set of large panels highlighting the achievements of artists and craftsmen, accompanied by a video device presenting the know-how, the gestures, the creative universe and the personality of each. Based on the neoclassical and modernist architecture of the Palais d’Iéna, AD Matières d’Art proposes to immerse oneself in an immense mosaic of materials, thus offering the visitor a sensitive, rhythmic and modern exhibition itinerary.

It is between the columns of the hypostyle hall of the Palais d’Iéna that the course of AD Matières d’Art will be inscribed. This masterpiece of modern rationalist architecture dating back to 1939 – originally a museum dedicated to public works – is the seat of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council since 1959. Avant-garde in its time, this pink marble and green porphyry concrete building by architect Auguste Perret is based on a classical order. The slender columns carry the roof in one jet, widening towards the top in capitals. The works of the participants will find their place in this magical and exceptional location.

The exhibition AD Matières d’Art is to be discovered from March 23 to April 1, 2018 in the hypostyle hall of the Palais d’Iéna.
